Season

Training commences in Week One of Term Two. There are limited opportunities in Term One for new rowers to attend ‘Learn to Row’ sessions. The venue and times for the ‘Learn to Row’ sessions will be available through the Student Bulletin. During the Holidays between Term Two and Three, all rowers are encouraged to attend the Rowing Camp. In Term Three there are five lead-up Regatta’s the majority of which are on the Sunshine Coast, at Lake Kawana. The season concludes with the BSRA Head of the River Regatta in late August at Lake Kawana.

Fees

Rowing at St Margaret’s is not fee free and all rowers will be charged a levy for the 18 week season. The levy charged for rowing will cover many of the operating costs of the program which are unique to the program including all coaching, equipment use, rowing camp and transport costs. Full details are available at the commencement of the season.

Crews

Girls compete in year levels, rather than age groups. Following trials, all year levels are selected into crews. The fastest student in each year level is also selected to race in the single scull. Rowing endeavours to accommodate all students who wish to participate.

Training Venue

St Margaret’s rowers train out of their own shed, located on Breakfast Creek, Albion.

Competition Venues

Lake Kawana, Sportsmans Parade, Kawana Waters. Detailed directions are available in the Rowing Handbook.

Uniform

The St Margaret’s rowing zoot suit is required for Competition. Training is conducted in the rowing zoot suit or navy PE top and bike pants.
