Girls

Girls, the sciences, and the future

St Margaret's is a specialist in educating girls and young women.

Significant research into the way girls best learn the sciences continues to shape teaching practices within the school. We know students need to be engaged in the sciences, by learning experiences that are hands-on, close to the action and intensely practical.

The Science Centre reflects this in its learning spaces and overall design. Innovative bench design will place each student within a maximum five metres of the teacher with an uninterrupted view. Alternative teaching spaces for demonstrating experiments are integrated into every laboratory. In these and many other ways, the centre will encourage present and future students to gain confidence in this important area of academic study.

St Margaret's has long had a proud reputation for encouraging young women to achieve their academic best. Through the new Science Centre, increasing numbers of students will be motivated to pursue important study and careers in the sciences and technology.
