Dear St Margaret's Community

You may be interested to hear how members of the St Margaret's community, particularly through the commitment of the School Council and the School Foundation, have provided support to those in need during the recent devastating events in Queensland.

As you know, a number of our School families are facing unimaginable challenges in the months ahead as a result of the floods. Our parent body showed overwhelming support for other members of our school community. The School's clothing drive was highly successful, and the contributions have been distributed to students. As we were overwhelmed with donations, the remaining clothing has been donated to the flood appeal and taken to the Goodna Recovery Centre.

The School's Foundation has provided $30,000 in the form of bursaries to support those in need and the school has already been able to provide some tuition remission as a result of this generosity. This donation from the Foundation complements the intention to use the newly established Scholarship Fund to also assist those in need. This contribution is in addition to the Foundation's commitment to a Capital Campaign to raise $1.6 million for the Science and Resource Centre.

Our staff stationery drive (which also included quilt covers for returning boarders) yielded a great supply for our students, as well. The donated stocks will be distributed throughout the year as the need arises.

Our Year 12 students, last week, had a "bake sale". They showed tremendous support for this initiative and $835 was raised for the Flood Appeal.

The generosity of the School community has been heartening and we would like to thank you for all you have done.

Kind regards

Ms Ros Curtis
Principal

Mr Joe Gibson
Chair of School Council

Mrs Margot de Groot
Chair of School Foundation
