Dear St Margaret’s Community

When I wrote to you last week about the plight of our boarding parents, I did not imagine that I would be
contacting you again about support which may need to be provided to other members of our school
community.

We have registered St Margaret’s as a possible evacuation centre with the Anglican Diocese. As yet we
have not been called upon to provide our facilities, namely the Phillip Harris Sports Centre. Unfortunately,
our boarding house is not available due to the suspension of essential services while they are being
upgraded and some construction work. Nevertheless, if any of our families need a place to stay, I am
certain we could help in some way. Please contact us if you know anyone in our community who is in need.
Given the spirit and closeness of the St Margaret’s community, I appreciate that many of you, who have not
experienced flood damage, will be helping friends and family members who have. However, if the school
can facilitate any offers of assistance please let us know by contacting our Chaplain, Rev Nicki Colledge on
ncolledge@stmargarets.qld.edu.au.

Please remember our call for good casual clothing for our boarders and for uniforms and shoes. All items
may be delivered to the Arts Centre Foyer from Monday 17 to Friday 21 January.

I also wish to advise that since Tuesday afternoon, St Margaret’s has been operating on skeleton staff. Very
few staff members have been able to get to work and, therefore, our back to school mailout to parents has
been delayed. We will endeavour to get that to you as soon as possible.

We are awaiting advice from the Queensland Government about a change in the starting date of the school
year. Until we receive that advice, we intend to start school on the 24 January as previously advised. Should
this change we will advise the school community via email immediately.

Please keep safe and continue to keep in your thoughts and prayers those who have suffered greatly in the
past few weeks.

Kind regards

Ros Curtis
