The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is Queensland’s new senior school qualification awarded to eligible students for the first time in 2008.
Each student who completes Year 12 will receive a Senior Statement in the December of that year.
This statement is a transcript of the learning account that records all contributing studies and the results achieved that may contribute towards the QCE.
This statement shows the eligible student’s Overall Position (OP) and Field Positions (FPs). Rankings are used to determine eligibility for admission to tertiary courses.
An OP indicates a student’s rank based on overall achievement in Authority subjects. To be eligible for an OP, a student must have studied a minimum of 20 semesters of Authority subjects. The student must study at least three of these subjects for all four semesters and sit for the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) test.
FPs indicate a student’s rank based on overall achievements in Authority subjects in up to five fields (areas of study which emphasise particular knowledge and skills). FPs are calculated only for OP-eligible students.
