Welcome from Hume Campbell, Chair of the Science and Resource Centre Capital Campaign
It is a privilege to serve the Chair of the Foundation, Margot de Groot, in the endeavours of the Foundation. And this present campaign - raising $1.6 million to fit-out the Science and Resource Centre to a world-class standard - could not be more important.
As a present school parent with two young girls in the Primary School and a long association of family members attending St Margaret's, I am an enthusiastic supporter of the school and what it offers my daughters.
I believe there are two things you can give freely to your children: your love and a good education. Love is unconditional and education is a choice. By choosing St Margaret's, you've made a free and conscious choice to invest in your child's education.
What this campaign asks you is to give a little more. A new building is just a building. The role we, as parents, can play in funding the fit-out is critical: It will transform the Science and Resource Centre into a state-of-the-art educational precinct that will benefit our daughters for decades to come.
Supporting me on the Capital Campaign Taskforce are fellow Foundation members and present school parents Robert Bloxsom, Rob Davison and Paul Haslam, and I thank them for their support. My thanks, too, to Principal Ros Curtis, with whom I've spoken at many parent events already this year. I learn something new every time I'm with her, and I consider it a privilege to be working for and with her.
I look forward to meeting many more parents this year, and to a very successful and generous year ahead as we build together for our daughters' futures.
