St Margaret's School

What is the Foundation?

The St Margaret’s Foundation is a Company Limited by Guarantee and established under Australian Corporations Law, managed by the Foundation Board and reporting to the St Margaret’s School Council.

What is the purpose of the Foundation?

The purpose of the Foundation, established in 2004, is to uphold the School’s heritage and vision and to support the Council‘s commitment to enrich and enhance the learning environment and opportunities for past, present and future students.

What are the goals of the Foundation?

  • To nurture links throughout all members of the School community
  • To oversee fundraising efforts that relate to capital projects and sponsorship
  • To raise funds through donations, bequests and in-kind support
  • To invest funds to provide a source of future income
  • To develop scholarship opportunities

Margot de Groot
Margot de Groot's connection with St Margaret's commenced when her daughter Alice (Senior of 2007) entered the School in Year 8. As a proactive parent, she joined the Foundation Board in 2004. Margot is the founder of de Groots, Wills & Estate Lawyers, with offices in Brisbane and Sydney. The firm provides advice on wills and estate planning, deceased estate and trust administration and estate litigation. Margot completed a Business Management Program at the Harvard Business School in the United States of America during 2004-2006 and was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards in 2004. She is also a Notary Public.

Margot founded the Queensland branch of the international Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and was a founding member of the Queensland Law Society Succession Law Committee. Margot has served as Chairman of Law Australasia, a National Association of law firms and held directorships with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Trust, the Queensland Law Foundation and Energex Retail Pty Ltd.

Darren Barlow
Darren Barlow has been the independent Director of the Foundation since 2005. Darren's experience includes corporate strategy, securities regulation and company law together with finance and accounting. Darren chairs the Foundation's Finance Committee. He is director of a number of private companies and was formerly director of a number of public companies and industry associations. Darren is currently a General Manager in the Finance area of a top 30 ASX listed entity.

Mr Robert Bloxsom - Director

Robert Bloxsom is a current parent, father to Georgia and Emily and has for many years supported the school in many ways. He is a Director of The Bloxsom Family Group, a Queensland company with its major interests in property, construction and property valuation.

Mr Hume Campbell - Director

Hume Campbell
Hume Campbell is a current parent, father to Grace and Olivia. He is currently CEO of Riverside Marine. Hume's business experience is extensive and he has shared this through membership and directorship of Associations and Boards. Hume is a past Director of the Queensland Confederation of Industry and the Marine Board of the Department of Transport.

Mrs Beverley Fox - Director

Beverley is a long-term staff member of St Margaret's, having commenced in 1980. Throughout her teaching career she undertook a variety of roles within the School, most notably as Head of the Business Education Department, Years 11 and 12 Year Level Coordinator and in 2002, Fundraiser for the Arts Centre. She was invited to join the Board of the Foundation in 2005 and on retiring from teaching at the end of that year commenced the new Development Office for the School, establishing an extensive Alumni Database, coordinating Foundation business and functions as well as the publication of Food with a View. Her granddaughter, Matisse Waters, is a current student.

Judith Hall is a current parent, mother of Alessandra. Judith has been an active member of the P&F Association and served as President from 2008-2010. She is a Director on the School Council in 2011.

Roger House
Roger House is a current boarder parent, father to Annika. He is a Director of a number of private companies and has property, finance and retail interests.
