St Margaret's School

Welcome to St Margaret's - a school where the community of staff, students and parents is vibrant, friendly and supportive.

Since 1895, the school has held an important place in the lives of families who have put their daughters' education in the hands of the staff of St Margaret's. At the heart of the school you will find the values and wisdom of our founders, the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent.

Our Sisters have provided a firm Christian foundation which underpins all we do.  We endeavour to ensure that all girls feel they are valued and an important member of our school family.

At St Margaret's the students are inspired to achieve their goals and every effort is made to encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them, in both the classroom or in the broad range of extra-curricular activities on offer.

I encourage all prospective parents to take the opportunity to visit our school and to see it for themselves. It is clearly a school that effectively combines a love of tradition and its legacy with the excitement of innovation and a commitment to quality education.

Ensuring a relevant, authentic and engaging learning program remains the focus of everything we do at St Margaret's.  2011 saw the implementation of a laptop program in the secondary school and plans are well underway for 2014 when Year 7 will become part of our secondary school.

As a Pre-Prep to Year 12 school, we are well positioned to ensure that this change is a seamless one for our students. As we look to introduce the Australian Curriculum, as required by the Federal Government, our focus will be to continue to provide opportunities for students to be enriched, extended and supported.

These developments in curriculum will occur while following our Master Plan for new and redeveloped facilities. The $8 million Science and Resource Centre (scheduled to open in February 2012) has commenced and our primary students are currently enjoying the $3million redevelopment which includes enhanced teaching, playground and library facilities, partly funded by the Federal Government through the Building Education Revolution.

I look forward to your visit to St Margaret's and warmly welcome you to become part of the school community, where we all work together to encourage and celebrate the many achievements of St Margaret's students and staff.
